The Ministry of Justice, headed by the Attorney General, is the principal legal authority of the Government of The Gambia. It is responsible for providing legal advice to the government and representing the state in civil and criminal matters.
The ministry oversees prosecution services, legislative drafting, and law reform. It also supervises legal institutions such as the courts, prisons, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
This institution is central to the rule of law in The Gambia. It ensures that laws are properly enforced and that justice is administered fairly and transparently.
